DCCA Online Club’s “Spring Grand-Prix” (linked to our Mellow Monday / Friday Night Blitz events)

Our 2-minute online entry form is now open at: https://www.cognitoforms.com/DCCAOnlineClub/SpringGrandPrix2020  [Entry deadline: 7pm on Sunday 3 May 2020]

In light of the popularity of our regular blitz tournaments, the DCCA Online Club will be running a linked “Spring Grand-Prix” competition over the next two months.

Our Spring Grand-Prix will run from Friday 24 April to Friday 5 June inclusive, and will incorporate six “Mellow Monday” and seven “Friday Night Blitz” events. A player’s “Grand-Prix score” will be calculated as the sum of their THREE highest scores in “Mellow Monday” and their FOUR highest scores in “Friday Night Blitz” during this time window – giving a theoretical maximum score of 43 points.

The six players achieving the highest Grand-Prix scores will compete in a blitz playoff (format to be announced) to decide the overall winner. Along with the “bragging rights” of being our first Grand-Prix champion, the winner will be awarded a “virtual trophy” which will be supplemented by a physical trophy at a later date. There will also be an playoff between the four highest-placing players whose ECF grades lie below a defined cutoff (which will be decided by the organisers based on entries received), with a virtual trophy being awarded to the winner.

To register for the Spring Grand-Prix, simply fill in the short entry form at: https://www.cognitoforms.com/DCCAOnlineClub/SpringGrandPrix2020

We would be grateful if likely participants could try to submit their entries as soon as possible – and before 7pm on Sunday 3 May at the latest. Note: Any scores achieved between 24 April and the date of entry may of course be included retrospectively in a player’s Grand-Prix score.

The decisions of the organisers will be final in all matters, and they reserve the right to make adjustments and amendments to the rules as required to ensure the smooth running of the competition.
